Founder & President
Mother of three and mentor to hundreds, Hope has built her personal and professional life upon meeting the needs of young adults. The North Carolina native is a former Assistant Director of Admission at Princeton University. After witnessing the difficulty many families face in finding the "perfect" college, she founded Murtaugh College Consulting to prepare high school students and parents for the selection and application process.
"This is a very exciting, yet stressful time for each member of the family," she shares. "You have a very small window to understand the process, identify available tools, and seize opportunities for your child."
Hope's experience includes six years of college admission and private high school college admission counseling, as well as seven years of working directly for families and counseling companies as an independent college admission consultant. The warm and engaging speaker has made presentations to thousands of families about college admissions for more than 20 years. Hope's most recent presentations include engagements in multiple cities in China and New Zealand, as well as the US.
Her professional affiliations include: Associate Member, Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA); Member, Southern Association for College Admission Counseling and the International Association for College Admission Counseling. Hope Murtaugh is a Member of the Higher Education Consultants Association and subscribes to HECA standards of good practice.

Name a college, and Valerie Bynum can tell you where to find the newest dorm, the best burger and short-cuts on campus. This peppy dynamo has a deep love for education and campus life, and has visited more than 50 universities across the United States. Upon graduating from Jacksonville University, she canvassed 15 states as a National Traveling Chapter Consultant for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.
"Campuses are like people," she confides. "Each has a different personality, different pace and different demands. It's hard to identify those characteristics from a website, or book. That's why I enjoy meeting parents and high school students, and helping them figure out which schools will best suit their lifestyle and educational goals."
Valerie's career includes corporate training and recruitment for a national restaurant chain, and more than 20 years as an Executive Sales Representative for a Fortune 500 company. This professional experience has equipped her to be a strong scholarship and admission interview preparation coach, and it compliments her personal experience raising three children and volunteering in their varied schools for two decades. Valerie has been working with students on the college admission process for five years with Murtaugh College Consulting.
"I've worked with students of all abilities and interests. Nothing brings more joy than helping them set high standards, providing inspiration, and watching them meet goals they thought were unattainable."
